1. Website operator

MakeStack is currently operated as a private, non-commercial hobby project. Questions, notices, and complaints about the service can be sent to [email protected].

2. Nature of the service

MakeStack is a developer tool for selecting infrastructure services and generating configuration for technologies such as Docker Compose and Kubernetes. It may also let you preview, download, share, or run a generated stack.

MakeStack does not host, operate, administer, or monitor the infrastructure you create with its output. It is not a managed hosting service, security auditor, backup provider, or substitute for professional engineering review.

3. Acceptance and eligibility

By using MakeStack, you agree to these Terms. If you use the service for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

4. Generated configuration

Generated files, commands, examples, and recommendations are provided as a starting point. They may be incomplete, unsuitable for your environment, or affected by changes in third-party software.

• Review generated output before downloading, running, or deploying it.
• Validate images, versions, ports, volumes, permissions, networking, resource limits, and dependency settings.
• Test configuration in an isolated environment before using it with production systems or data.
• Maintain appropriate access controls, monitoring, backups, and recovery procedures.

5. Credentials and sensitive information

You are responsible for every value you enter into MakeStack. Do not submit production secrets, private keys, personal data, or other sensitive information unless you understand how the selected feature processes and stores it.

6. Downloads, scripts, and remote execution

Some features can produce downloadable archives or installation scripts, or request that a generated stack be run. These actions may create containers, networks, volumes, files, processes, or other resources in the target environment.

You must inspect commands and files before executing them, confirm the target environment, and ensure that you have permission to modify it. You are responsible for resource use, charges, data changes, and cleanup resulting from execution.

7. Shared stacks

If you share a stack, MakeStack may store its configuration and make it available through a share URL. Do not share material that is confidential, unlawful, malicious, or that infringes another person's rights. You remain responsible for the content you submit and share.

8. Acceptable use

You must not:

• use MakeStack for unlawful or unauthorized activity;
• interfere with the service, bypass access controls, probe for vulnerabilities without permission, or disrupt other users;
• upload, generate, or distribute malware or intentionally harmful configuration through the service;
• use automated traffic in a way that places an unreasonable load on MakeStack or prevents normal operation; or
• misrepresent the source, security, compatibility, or capabilities of generated output.

9. Third-party software and services

Stack definitions may reference container images, packages, source projects, trademarks, documentation, and services owned by third parties. Their licenses, terms, privacy practices, support policies, and availability continue to apply. MakeStack does not own, endorse, or guarantee third-party software merely because it appears in the catalog or generated output.

10. Intellectual property

The MakeStack name, visual design, original text, and interface elements are protected by applicable law. You may use generated configuration for your own projects, subject to any third-party licenses and rights that apply to the referenced software or content.

11. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, catalog entries, generated formats, or integrations at any time. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent storage of shared stacks, compatibility with every software version, or continued support for any particular service.

12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MakeStack is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, security, non-infringement, or error-free operation.

The operator is not liable for deployment failures, outages, security incidents, data loss, corrupted configuration, software incompatibility, third-party changes, unexpected charges, or other losses resulting from use of the service or generated output. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when MakeStack's features, providers, risks, or legal obligations change. The current version and its updated date will be published on this page. Continued use after an update means that you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing rules and disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us and describe the dispute so that we can try to resolve it in good faith. Mandatory consumer rights and jurisdiction rules remain unaffected.
